Compressor & Zone Damper Fix – AC Repair Little Elm, TX

🔧 Issue: AC not cooling + no airflow on 2nd floor
Our homeowner noticed no cooling on the second floor and virtually no airflow throughout the upper level. Upon arrival, our technician discovered that the outdoor condenser had tripped its breaker whenever the system attempted to call for cooling. The megohmmeter test showed bad winding resistance readings; and we also used multi-meter checked to see that start + run winding resistances did not match total resistance. Clear evidence of a failing compressor. Further inspection also uncovered a stuck-closed zone damper motor, preventing conditioned air from reaching the upstairs ducts.
Diagnosis & Solution:
• Compressor Failure: After confirming the bad compressor under factory parts warranty, we:
o Recovered all contaminated refrigerant to protect the system from debris and moisture.
o Installed a replacement compressor covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
o Replaced the dryer filter to remove any residual moisture and contaminants.
o Employed nitrogen purge on all critical brazing joints and kept wet rags on adjacent components to prevent overheating and oxidation.
o Moved the valve core to ensure a clean, moisture-free connection during brazing.
• Zone Damper Motor Issue: Simultaneously, we replaced the malfunctioning zone damper motor with a new Honeywell unit to restore proper upstairs airflow and zoning control.

🌬️ The system was meticulously restored to full functionality, ensuring enhanced cooling and balanced airflow upstairs. Another satisfied homeowner enjoying reliable comfort!
